Steve Acker has been making music and hits since his teens in Warren, Ohio. He founded the band LAW in 1971, which was discovered and signed to MCA Records in 1975 by The Who. LAW toured throughout the decade with The Who, Bob Segar, Boston, Bad Company, and nearly every other major rock act of the era.
In 1978, Steve left the band and moved to Jackson, Mississippi, where his father was running the Packard Electric/GM plants. Two years later he scored a regional hit 45 rpm record with "Bulldog Blitz" for Mississippi State University. He joined Godwin Advertising in 1982, where he composed many popular jingles and ad campaigns (Northpark Mall, Mr. Transmission, Mississippi Valley Gas, Piccadilly Cafeterias, etc etc). He left Jackson in 1985 after graduating from Mississippi College to work as a creative director for a Nashville advertising agency, where he remained for 14 years. During this period his work earned numerous national creative awards. He created an adult education program for Dollar General Stores in 1987 that earned a Special Presidential Award from President Ronald Reagan and has, to date, resulted in 1.5 million Dollar General customer earning their GED Certificates or learning to read.
In 1999 Steve returned to Jackson and promptly produced hit CD's for both Mississippi State ("The Dawgpound Rock") and Ole Miss ("The Rebels are Rolling" with The Bluz Boys). After scoring a song production deal in New York, Steve left Mississippi again in early 2009 and spent two years in his native Ohio and again in Nashville.
Steve is available to perform his vast repertoire of originals, blues, and classic hits solo for clubs, parties, and special events across the Southeast. Enjoy his videos. What you see is what you get.
